HealthHack Kickoff Summary and Links to Resources

Thank you for attending the kickoff event for the 2020 Sanford HealthHack! 

We had over 60 in attendance at the Friday event and we are exicted to have the 2020 Healthhack officially underway. 

Didn't catch the kickoff event? Don't worry, recordings will be posted soon. In the meantime, EVERYTHING you need missed is below. 

Resources: 

If you have any questions about resources, please ask in the external_resources channel in the HealthHack Slack . If you are having issues accessing the Slack, please contact HealthHack@SanfordHealth.org.

  • DevPost: If you are reading this, you likely are registered for DevPost - all official rules and submission guidelines can be found on DevPost. Submission and judging will also happen via DevPost. 
  • The HealthHack Slack: This is how you'll do most of your communicating with the event organiers, your team, other teams and your own SME
  • User Personas : Your solution is required to address the challenges faced by one of the HealthHack user personas - you can find them in the external_resources channel on Slack here.
  • EMR API: As an aded bonus, you can incorporate the EMR API into your solutions - you can find the API documentation in the external_resources channel on Slack here.
  • Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): SMEs are Sanford Health team members ready to help fill in gaps in your healthcare tech knowledge - you can find info on them and how you work with them in the external_resources channel on Slack here.

 

The Who/What/When/Where/Why Of the HealthHack

Who

  • Students of a US College Only
  • Any Major
  • Mix & Match your Universities amongst your teams (SDSU + NDSU + UCLA = OKAY)

What

  • This is a Team-based innovation comptition. Winners will be selected by judges  - 1st Place Team Receives $12,000; 2nd Place Team Receives $6,000 and 3rd Place Team Receives $3,000.

When

  • Kickoff: Oct. 16th (Done)
  • Solutions Due: Oct. 30th 
  • Demo Day: Nov. 6th

Where

  • Entirely virtual
  • We'll use DevPost, the HealthHack Slack and webex/zoom

Why

  • Our goal is to engage college students in teh challenges of healthcare today and tomorrow
